Overview We are looking for an experienced and innovative leader to take our sustainable and responsible business practice and organizational capabilities to the next level as part of the evolution of our business strategy.

As part of our senior leadership team, you will bring this strategy to life – building internal culture and evolving mindsets to enable front-line business teams to bring deeper levels of risk awareness to their everyday work, actively partner in business decisions through the provision of expert advice, help define EDC’s risk appetite, and implement innovative solutions to help enhance the capabilities of our customers.

You will be a champion of responsible and sustainable business practices within EDC – influencing ongoing change and evolution.

You will also be an ambassador for EDC taking the message of our strong CSR practices to the outside world.

Key Responsibilities As a key member of EDC’s senior leadership team, you will: Be a thought leader and key influencer for the organization in sustainable and responsible business practices, and enhance EDC’s understanding of what society, customers, employees, the government of Canada and other key stakeholders expect Build organizational capacity across EDC in the domain of sustainable and responsible business.

As such, you will lead and promote the development of tools, processes, and approaches to bring deeper levels of risk awareness at EDC, actively partner in business decisions through the provision of expert advice, help define EDC’s risk appetite, and implement innovative solutions to help enhance the capabilities of our customers Provide leadership to teams accountable for: Environmental and Social Risk Management and Business Integrity.

You will provide strategic direction and develop buy-in within the team; developing team capacity and promoting autonomy and empowerment of employees Leverage your deep subject matter experience to build bench strength on the teams through coaching & training, developing best-in-class risk assessment practices and standards to enable the teams to assess the most complex of scenarios and be recognized within EDC and externally as subject matter experts in sustainable and responsible business practices Represent EDC in external forums as a subject matter expert, bringing enhanced visibility to the Corporation’s goals and accomplishments in the areas of sustainable and responsible business.

In so doing, you will build constructive relationships with key external stakeholders – enhancing their perception and understanding of EDC Leverage your global network of domain practitioners to assist EDC in adopting best practices and enhancing our capacity to manage risks Work collaboratively with other members of the EDC senior leadership team, recognizing their respective roles in fostering a risk aware culture in the area of sustainable and responsible business and their stake in making it successful Participate in senior management forums related to transactions and key business risks and play a leadership role in ensuring the identification of risks, as well as the strategies to respond to these risks as they arise during the term of business and customer relationships Screening Criteria A minimum of 15 years of related work experience A minimum of 10 years of successfully leading teams Undergraduate degree in a related field Practical experience working with international standards in environmental and social risk management, corporate governance Knowledge and understanding of practices and standards used in detecting financial crime risk A proven track record of managing complex issues in a commercial environment A broad understanding of trends in environmental and social risk management, governance practices as well as in the detection of financial crimes, and related regulatory frameworks Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels of the organization.

Ability to present ideas in a clear, succinct and organized manner Leadership Essentials A strong, team-oriented leader, who can gain the trust of colleagues quickly, builds strong relationships within the organization in a spirit of collegiality and engagement, values diversity Execution-oriented work style, instilling a culture of partnership and accountability with other areas of the business A visionary leader comfortable operating at the corporate strategic level, with business acumen and sound, common-sense business judgment and strategic insight with a demonstrated ability to champion change in an organization Assets Financial institution experience It is an asset to be bilingual in both official languages however, we encourage both bilingual and unilingual candidates to apply Salary $160,000 $256,000 short-term and long-term incentive Location Please be advised that this position is based at our Head Office in Ottawa.
