Telesat: Manager, Technical Product Management

You will collaborate with Customers/Partners and internal stakeholders such as Engineering, Sales, and Business development to bring innovative services, and features to market using the Telesat Lightspeed system.This role requires strong leadership, technical, organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally at senior levels.

The ideal candidate has a collaborative style, with a strong sense of urgency and desire to get things done, and flexibility to adapt in a fast-changing environment.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead a team of technical product managers, translating underlying trends from the market into product and service needs.Engage with target customer segments to better understand and validate technical requirements and features in all market segments.Provide critical interface to the rest of the engineering team to define the service requirements and service packages for different customer segments.Develop, document and maintain product and services requirements and features roadmapWork in close collaboration with business development team supporting opportunities and drive the detailed go-to-market plan, including coordination with sales, marketing and external partners.Support in building marketing communications materials (whitepapers, etc.).Create sales enablement materials for sales teams (training materials, fact sheets, etc.).Support sales teams in customer engagement activities (presentations, demos, etc.).Occasionally represent Telesat in technical conferences presenting technical features of the Lightspeed constellation.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREDA minimum of 10 years relevant experience in product management of IP networking or in advanced wireless networksA degree in a relevant discipline.Electrical or computer engineering degree with emphasis in communication systemsRecognized as a technical expert in developing complex systems / network architecture to satisfy customer needsDemonstrated experience in defining network solutions addressing customer needs related to Quality of Servide (QoS), and defining Service Level Agreements (SLA)Experience in Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) standardStrong analytical and research capabilities to evaluate opportunities and challenges and uncover new customer insights to improve product functionality and user experience.Highly collaborative team-player who can quickly build trust.Ability to rigorously prioritize opportunities, needs, and resources.Specialized Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent public speaker.Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business objectives into technical product requirements.Demonstrated ability to work in a complex engineering environment developing next generation communication network systemsExcellent knowledge of new technology trends and its applications for innovating in the marketplace.Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliers.Experience with business considerations and practical limitations related to system design and implementation.Ability to prioritize opportunities, needs and resourcesFluent in English, written and oral.DECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION:Decision MakingIn this role, the incumbent will issue recommendations and have influence on the evolution of the system design of the Telesat Lightspeed system.Supervision ExercisedThis role has 3 to 5 direct reports and is subject to expansion in the future.WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal office environment.Occasional international travel is anticipated.The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
