For more information, visit www.Telesat.Com.PURPOSE OF JOBLead all technical aspects of the radio system architecture of the Telesat LEO constellation in terms of air interface definition, concept of operations and functional descriptions.Define the functional and performance requirements related to the radio system function as applicable to the satellite payload, user terminals and landing stationsMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Bring expert level experience to the existing team in finalizing the definition of all aspects of the radio system implementation involving agile multi-beam phased array antennas using beam hopping.Define concept of operations for all phases of the functional requirements, including user terminal commissioning, network entry, satellite handovers, time synchronization, adaptive coding and modulation (ACM) among othersServe as principal system architect for the definition of all air interfaces between the user terminals, landing stations and satellite payloads.

Review and approve all related requirements in the associated sub systems.Work with system modeling team to provide guidance on system design assumptions to be taken into account in the system modelWork with system operations team to jointly develop mechanisms and constraints for resources assignment, and algorithms such as band width on demand managementDevelop strategies for modeling link performance accounting for impairments the difference elements in the system.Work with the network team to ensure a seamless functional interface between the network functions and the radio systemWork in collaboration with the Verification and Validation group to plan proper validation of the requirements to ensure appropriate system performanceStay involved within DVB standard forumEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREDB.

Sc.

in Electrical, Computer or System Engineering.Good experience in system design, requirement management and communication systems performance assessmentsExpert in implementation of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation and coding and its impact on the satellite link performanceDeep knowledge of DVB-S2X and DVB-RCS2 standard Specialized Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesHighly collaborative team-player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates.Excellent oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliers.Experience with business considerations and practical limitations related to system design and implementation.Ability to prioritize opportunities, needs and resources.An aptitude for and interest in complex technologyFluent in English, written and oral.DECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION:Decision MakingIn this role, the incumbent will have significant influence on the finalization of the system design of the Telesat LEO system Supervision ExercisedThis role has no direct reports initially, but likely to build up to a small number of systems engineers reporting to this role.WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal office environment.Occasional international travel anticipated.The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
