Senior Project Safety Manager

The Centre of Competence for Urban Rail Signalling is located right before you at mid-town Toronto.

Come join the big Transport family, here in Toronto The Senior Project Safety Manager represents Thales in front of the customer (external or internal), Independent Safety Assessor for any Safety related matters.

Key Accountabilities Represents Safety in the Projects (external and internal) as the one accountable contact point Organizes and plans the Technical Safety strategy for safe and on time customer delivery Define Safety strategy and prepare Safety plan.

Apply Safety methodologies to be compliant with required standards (for example CENELEC) and internal safety management procedures.

Lead the allocated Safety resources to perform hazard management and Safety analysis activities (PHA, SHA, IHA, FTA, FMEA, OSHA) Enforce Safety discipline and ensure project execution adhere to the Project Safety Plan.

Manage and escalate Safety risks related to both design Safety and program management.

Support lessons learned, knowledge sharing, training, competence management, metrics collection and KPI report.

Manage work package owner including defining scope of work, planning safety activities, monitoring progress, accepting deliverables, and evaluating budget.

Build Safety cases to demonstrate the system is safe for its intended purpose.

Interface customers to ensure exported hazards and conditions are transferred and accepted.

Coordinate with Independent Safety Assessors to assist project resolving open points for positive assessment.

Key Requirements Minimum B.S.

in related Engineering Discipline, preferable Master.

10 years of work experience with railway signaling systems or other safety critical systems is mandatory.

Excellent understanding of safety concepts.

Excellent knowledge of development of safety critical integrated systems, and entire system development lifecycle.

Strong Knowledge of CENELEC standards or equivalent standards and regulations for railways, IEEE, AREMA, IEC/ISO, etc.

Strong experience with hazard identification and analyses (FTA, FMEA, PHA, SHA, SSHA, IHA, and OSHA) is preferred.

Knowledge of requirement management and requirement traceability.

Knowledge of configuration management and quality management.

Knowledge of software design, hardware design, EMC, environmental conditions, redundancy, microprocessor architectures.

Knowledge of test strategy and methodologies.
