UHN Data & Analytics supports UHN in data-driven decisions, data literacy, performance improvement, data governance, data infrastructure/tools, advanced analytics, and automation.

The Performance Improvement & Excellence (PIE) team works under the direction of the Chief Data & Analytics Officer and in tight partnership with clinical & administrative leadership, to lead and manage performance improvement and transformation initiatives, using data, to accomplish measurable outcomes.

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION: The Senior Manager, Performance Improvement & Excellence (PIE), Program Lead role plays a key leadership position in UHN Data & Analytics, leading performance improvement initiatives, supporting clinical programs in seeing, understanding and using data.

The successful candidate will employ best practice and advanced reporting and improvement methodologies, tools and techniques to support clinical programs in making improvement.

In addition, act as a technical liaison between the clinical program and data operations and engineering teams, bridging the gap between data science, advanced analytics, change management, implementation and performance improvement.

The Senior Manager consults clinical and non-clinical leaders across the organization including, Site Executive (EVP, Clinical VPs, Clinical Directors, Medical Directors) and clinical leadership, Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI), Laboratory Medicine Program (LMP), Michener, Research, and Education.

As a member of the Data & Analytics team, the Senior Manager acts as a data translator supporting clinical programs to use data to derive meaningful and actionable insights to improve the provision of patient care, business services, and project/program implementation.

• Accountable to establish strong collaborative relationships with various leaders and departments across UHN to facilitate strategic partnerships that include a deep understanding of their business processes, key performance indicators, and the experience and culture of people working all levels of the site.

• Champions data-driven culture by leading a team of cross-functional analysts to generate insights and conduct in-depth analysis to support senior and executive management on strategic decision making
• Serves as a “trusted advisor” and primary liaison between Data & Analytics and assigned Clinical Programs.

• Collates and aligns individual program experience to an enterprise perspective, including data and performance requirements, technological alignment, and data governance.

• Member of hospital leadership meetings and represents UHN Data & Analytics on committees including Site Executive Committees, Site Quality of Care Committees, hospital operations meetings, Electronic Health Record Clinical Advisory Committee (EHRCAC).

• Stimulates, surfaces, and shapes data and analytics demands from hospitals, ensuring that the potential value is gathered, maximized, and conveyed.

• Coaches hospital stakeholders to articulate their needs and requirements to shape analytics requests.

• Acts as an advocate for hospital needs and required results.

• Maintains awareness of changes in the site/clinical programs(s) strategy, goals and processes to ensure requirements appropriately reflect stakeholder needs.

• Manages all aspects of human resources including hiring, promoting, disciplining, ongoing coaching and feedback, conducting performance reviews and terminates staff, as required Qualifications Education and Experience:
• Master’s degree in Health/Hospital Administration, Business Administration or related field is preferred
• A minimum of over 10 years up to and including 15 years practical and related experience and/or on the job training required
• At least 10 years of management/leadership experience in a hospital/health care setting with demonstrated extensive knowledge of healthcare
• Required Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP), Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP), Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP)
• Preferred Certification: Program Management Professional (PgMP), Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), Lean/Six Sigma
• Supervisory or managerial experience is required Skills:
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and senior leadership
• Ability to apply extensive stakeholder/relationship and change management knowledge and expertise
• Ability to lead diverse teams of professional employees
• Ability to mentor and affect desired results based on team members’ individual goals and objectives (specifically listening, coaching, group facilitation and conflict resolution skills)
• Demonstrated leadership skills such as conflict/issue resolution and negotiation skills
• Proven tactical and good critical strategic thinking
• Proven ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Excellent analytical ability with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to visualize complex organizational data to tell a story, derive data-driven insights and demonstrate value
• Excellent ability to anticipate and analyze risks and issues, explore alternatives, develop appropriate recommendations and present issues to senior leadership
• Ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple conflicting priorities
• Ability to understand and communicate technical issues clearly (both verbal and written)
