The opportunity Reporting to the Director Technology Services, the Digital Media Services Manager is responsible for the effective operations of ingest, format editing, closed captioning, described video, and multi-platform publishing to YouTube, OTT and TVO websites to name just a few.

This role develops and maintains policies and procedures as they relate to the processing, presentation, and multi-platform distribution of content; establishes best practices; manages the Digital Media Services staff and operating budgets; and vendor relationships to ensure that the department meets business objectives and complies with regulatory requirements.

You will continue to move the department forward in being digital first.

How you will make an impact Manage Media Services staff in accordance with TVO values, policies and procedures, leading the team in TVO’s digital first strategy Ensure appropriate staffing and training to process and deliver digital media to meet business objectives Develop, communicate, implement, and oversee policies, procedures and best practices to ensure compliance with conditions of license, and to meet business objectives and industry standards Manage working relationships with third party service providers of master control and distribution services including fiber, satellite, and online video platforms; monitor billing, quality of service, and lead collaboration with internal stakeholders Manage Closed Captioning and Described Video services to ensure TVO complies with regulatory requirements Audit the quality of closed captioning and prepare reports as required by the CRTC Be a resident expert on TVO’s processes and the content flow through Media Services to multiple platforms including YouTube, podcasts, Facebook, Twitter and OTT etc.

Identify and implement solutions and improvements by working with internal and external stakeholders Ensure the appropriate scheduling of facilities and human resources, in particular with regard to planning for special event programming, technical maintenance, upgrades, holidays and vacations Manage operating budget for the department; prepare cost projections for multi-year planning, annual budgets and forecasts; conduct cost benefit analysis for related activities and support audits Proactively monitor service and quality; ensure that technical issues are reported and documented Collaborate with peers in Infrastructure Services, Enterprise Software Services, Production, and other departments to ensure technical issues are effectively resolved Collaborate on capital projects with the Technology teams, contributing to design, equipment selection, implementation, and testing Research, review and recommend technology/process solutions, including sign off on acceptance testing of new technology What you will bring to TVO College diploma in a specialized field plus 8 – 10 years related work experience Team leadership and supervisory experience Experience with digital workflows, and broadcast operations Experience with multimedia platforms including YouTube, podcasts, Facebook, Twitter, websites, and OTT etc.

Experienced relationship builder, self-starter, coupled with a strong customer service orientation Must be an excellent communicator with strong written, verbal and listening skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in working with numbers and technical terminology Must have strong planning, analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills Must be able to multi-task when required, establish priorities, manage conflicting priorities, and work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines Experience with online publishing systems and tools
– multi-platform distribution is preferred Familiarity with accessibility (including AODA, closed captioning, described video) Project management experience is an asset We invite you to submit your application by August 23, 2022 at 5.00 PM.
