POSITION OVERVIEWThe Communications and Campaigns Manager is an enthusiastic and highly motivated professional who is organized, a great communicator, a quick learner, and a self-starter.

They are mission-driven and passionate about telling Fairtrade’s story.

The role is responsible for supporting our brand partners to spread the word about their Fairtrade commitments.

The role will also orchestrate our seasonal campaigns in partnership with other actors, creating exciting ways to engage shoppers and businesses in Fairtrade.

Finally, the Communications and Campaigns Manager will contribute to Fairtrade Canada’s main external communications channels – namely our website, earned media (PR), and segmented e-newsletters.FUNCTIONSCreate content for Fairtrade Canada’s external communications approximately 30% of your timeYou will create content that features Fairtrade’s farmer and worker partners, co-operative profiles, Fairtrade Premium projects, and other producer-led initiatives.You will write clear, concise, grammatically correct, search-engine-optimized and original content tailored to our different targeted audiences.You will work with key Fairtrade Canada staff to write thought-leadership pieces for LinkedIn and other channels.You will manage our external communications, particularly focusing on content for our website, e-newsletter, and earned media.You will adapt long-form content for high-engagement social media content.Ideate and conduct interviews with licensees, community members, and subject matter experts.Write news releases, editorials, and story pitches to submit to Canadian media agencies.Create and curate content for brands approximately 30% of your timeYou will create and curate promotional materials, content, and messaging to spread the word about Fairtrade.

Our research has found that most shoppers learn about Fairtrade through the brands they buy or see in the store.

Therefore, you will particularly focus on content created for our brand partners to use on their channels, which in turn will grow awareness of Fairtrade.

You will help brand partners in their B2B pitches to retailers as necessary.You will support brands in training internal marketing teams on how to communicate about Fairtrade by developing targeted training content.You will work closely with the Commercial Relations team to deliver our joint goals and to best serve our brand partners.Lead campaigns approximately 30% of your timeFairtrade Canada runs seasonal consumer awareness campaigns.

You will find ways to creatively engage consumers, campaigners, brand partners and other organizations in these campaigns to broaden their reach.You will create compelling stories and strong campaign slogans to inspire action.You will develop Quebec-specific content for targeted social media and advertising campaigns.Copywriting Support approximately 10% of your timeSupport the writing of impact reports and annual reports.Create various email templates for staff as needed.Support the Director of Marketing and Communications in maintaining an up-to-date messaging library.Edit and proofread French and English copy as needed.QUALIFICATIONSRequired qualificationsBachelors degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or related fieldAt least 5 years’ experience in content marketing or related fieldAbility to engage and communicate with targeted audiences via different channelsDemonstrated project management and organizational skillsExcellent writing, copy-editing, presentation, and communication skills Proven experience marketing for retail, ethical brands, sustainability sector or relatedKnowledge of online content creation and new marketing trends and techniquesExperience writing for SEOThe ability to multi-task is a mustThis is a bilingual role.
