Position Summary: We are delighted to introduce a new Director of Communications & Stakeholder Relations position to join our Executive team.

Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Communications & Stakeholder Relations leads Open Door Group’s integrated communications and stakeholder engagement strategies and efforts, ultimately enhancing brand-awareness and reputation to relevant stakeholders.

With the support of the Communications Manager, the Director will develop and refine ODG’s core messages to ensure organizational consistency.

As part of cohesive communications strategy, they will identify significant opportunities that can be leveraged to support increased awareness of ODG’s work.

Preferred candidates will have experience developing, implementing and measuring complex innovative strategic communications strategies.

Experience with stakeholder relations and engagement and advocacy efforts are also essential.

The Director will oversee all communications involving the organization and will develop and implement a cohesive communication strategy.

A natural relationship builder, the Director will bring demonstrated experience building a circle of influence to sustain ODG’s reputation for quality, accountable, and client-centered service.

This position is based in the Lower Mainland and will be a mix of remote and on-site work.

Given the nature of the role, the ability to travel and attend planned functions outside of regular work hours (i.e., evenings and/or weekends) is required.

Core Functions: Communications & Marketing Development Create and drive a multi-channel and cohesive communications strategy Elaborate and develop marketing strategy and a detailed plan and schedule Direct and coordinate marketing efforts and short-term/long term projects Participate in the development of branding and corporate identity initiatives Promote ODG’s values, mission, services, and programs through different advertising channels to reach various audiences Optimize the use of social media by providing guidance to the marketing team Position ODG as a Leader in Employment Services/Programs amongst clients and employers, and as an employer of choice amongst prospective employees Manage and lead a team of high performing communications & marketing manager and coordinators Public Relations Management Cultivate and build strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influential professionals to ensure ODG’s brand awareness Establish and develop contacts with employers, services providers, government, non-profit and private organizations, and community leaders Build advertising public relations campaigns, digital campaigns, and press releases to serve ODG’s goals and strategies Attend speaking engagements, host special events and provide post-event reports and analysis Act as corporate spokesperson and respond to media in a timely manner Monitor social, economic, and political trends that might affect the organization Stakeholder Management Develop and execute stakeholder communication and engagement plans Identify and categorize ODG’s relevant stakeholders (i.e., power, influence) and conduct a stakeholder analysis Determine and devise the most suitable communication channel to interact with stakeholders and control and manage the flow of information between ODG and Stakeholders Organize events within virtual and in-person communications venues to leverage ODG’s brand awareness and encourage stakeholders’ engagement Compliance Ensure brand compliance in all marketing materials and communications Maintain an awareness of ODG’s risks and threats Develop and implement policies to enhance the efficiency of communications department Stay abreast in terms of market trends and identify original and compelling themes to incorporate into the organization Develop and monitor metrics to measure reach and impact of communications and identify areas of success and opportunity Leadership Engage with the executive team to develop key messaging, themes/topics, style/tone, target audiences and appropriate communications channels Provide effective and inspiring leadership, as well as stewardship of ODG by being actively involved in all ODG strategies, programs, and services Prepare and manage annual budget of Marketing & Communications department that align with departmental and organizational priorities Assist and support executive leadership in developing presentations, speeches, and other important corporate messages Lead and ensure accountability of Marketing & Communications Manager and coordinators Provide guidance to HR team on issues and opportunities to strengthen Internal and Employee Communication plans Collaborate closely with the CEO, CFO, CPO, COO and different leaders across the organization to identify, define and produce messaging based on the organization needs Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, or related discipline.

Master’s Degree is considered an asset.

Knowledge and Experience: Minimum 5 years’ related experience in progressively higher accountability roles Previous senior leadership experience, competencies, and a passion for supporting people are essential Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies Solid knowledge and experience supporting internal and external initiatives that support diversity, equity and inclusion Knowledge and experience with social media marketing High competence in project and stakeholder engagement management Prior public relations experience is an asset Strong technical abilities including Microsoft 365 applications Special Conditions of Employment: Required to complete a criminal history background check.

Must be able to work flexible hours occasionally.

Must have the ability to work on a computer for extended period.

Travel within British Columbia may be required.

All ODG employees must: 1) know and follow health and safety policies and procedures and promptly report accident and injuries; 2) sign a code of ethics and conduct and a confidentiality form and report any infractions to agreements contained within those forms.

All employees working for Open Door Group must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
