What will you do at Ciena?The successful candidate will be a member of the Global Commodity Management Team responsible for proactively managing suppliers within the applicable commodity.

Strong collaboration and negotiation skills are required to ensure optimal pricing and supply agility in support of Ciena’s business.ResponsibilitiesSPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESShortages resolution: Must be able to work with contract manufacturers and suppliers during the escalation process to ensure minimal impact to the supply chain.Agility: Responsible for defining/implementing agility improvement initiatives with Suppliers & EMS partners to drive Security/Continuity of SupplyCapacity: Monitor capacity readiness with suppliers for new products and sustaining products to ensure continued success to Time to Market expectations as well as to revenue/customer commitments are achievedEOL (end of life) mitigation and coordination with Business Units to ensure minimum cost and business interruption to Ciena.

Contractual support and ability to negotiate at the Executive and Legal levels in order to drive results in Ciena’s favorCost ReductionDevelop Sourcing strategy with R&D/PLM to be discussed with the suppliers.

Strategies should drive competitive advantage, assure supply and differentiate Ciena in the market.Technical and should cost knowledge of Electro-Mechanical components required in order to develop multi-year pricing and allocation strategies.Responsible for the negotiation of best in class total cost which includes product cost, agility, and quality for the respective portfolio on a minimum annual/as needed basis.Track market trends and conditions to ensure capitalization on improving trends as well as communicating where conditions may pose deterioration to the costs of the business unit and take appropriate measure if required.Identification of more creative methods to save cost and assure supply, through re-design, second sourcing, supplier transfers, or other supply chain adjustments to improve overall TCO (total cost of ownership)Supplier Relationship ManagementCandidate must foster strong working relationships with suppliers to maintain best in class support and supply to Ciena.Candidate must enable frequent communications with suppliers through regular business & technology roadmap reviews to ensure constant alignment of priorities between the supplier and Ciena while addressing any concerns from a support, quality and service level.Coordinate/Drive regular Supplier follow-ups with the support of various internal stakeholders in order to ensure that areas of concern are addressed and closed.Key aspects of this position include:This is a senior PROCUREMENT position (Minimum 8+ years of negotiation and strategic sourcing experience.)Excellent knowledge and experience in the Electro-Mechanical Commodity is an asset.MARKET EXPERTISE.

To be successful in this role, you must know the key players.Ability to COLLABORATE effectively with R&D and PLM on new programs is essential.ExperienceElectro-Mechanical : Technical and Engineering background a plus to understand the Electro-Mechanical cost structure leveraging market price to optimize Ciena’s time to market and year-over-year savings.PROCUREMENT: Strong Negotiation & Project Management skills along with being liaison between engineering & suppliers to drive roadmap and next-gen product portfolios.COLLABORATION: Ability to confidently influence and foster strong relationships both internally and externallyConfidently works well under pressure with strong time management disciplinesExcellent Communication (both oral and written) skills in EnglishWillingness to travel when required*LI-CNRewarding experience.
