Across Canada, thousands of farms work each day to grow, process, and deliver the quality crops that become the food you enjoy each day.

At the heart of this operation, exists an essential ingredient: seed.

For farmers and food processors alike, using reliable, high-quality seed is of critical importance.

For seed buyers, having a third-party certification process to verify the varietal genetic purity of that seed is important.

Since 1904, the Canadian Seed Growers Association (CGSA) (https://seedgrowers.ca/) has ensured the supply of high-quality seed in Canada.

Our 3,500+ members range in size and scope from independent family farms to large seed companies and are key enablers of innovation and growth for the entire Canadian agriculture sector.

CSGA is the only national organization in Canada to monitor and certify pedigreed seed crops in Canada for all crops kinds, except potatoes.

Our mission is to represent and support our members, advance the seed industry, and with our partners, deliver and promote a flexible, responsive, and cost-effective seed certification system in Canada.

Our organization is in the midst of an exciting evolution, and now, were in search of an experienced Communications and Engagement Manager to join our team.

Thats where you come in.

As our new Communications and Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for executing our communications and member engagement strategies, working under the guidance of the Managing Director of Communications and Client Services.

You will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of communications platforms, which will include writing and coordinating content for our newsletter, website, reports, press releases, social media, and various member engagement initiatives.

Youll actively participate in cross-functional project teams, working with team members to develop and deliver all outward facing communications (including member or stakeholder surveys, articles, and advocacy plans) and ensuring clear messaging and positive branding.

Youll also collaborate regularly with industry partners and oversee opportunities for coordinated activities with them, to reinforce, enhance, and deliver on our external relations strategy.

Practically speaking, your role will involve: Leading communication strategies including marketing, new media, timing of press releases, media advisories and website content Writing content for our newsletter, webpages, member engagements, reports, social media, briefing notes, etc.

Coordinating updates to our website using WordPress, and coordinating monthly newsletters using MailChimp Coordinating the member engagement platform and its initiatives Proofing various communication pieces and official documents Participating in all communication aspects of CSGA member meetings, including event promotion, program handbook, attendee communication, reporting, etc.

Providing support on other tasks and projects as assigned by the Managing Director of Communications and Client Services Youll be joining our team at an incredibly exciting time.

We have a large project ahead of us: in a few months time, our members will vote on a potential amalgamation, which may result in the creation of a new national organization made up of five industry associations, including our own.

Youll play a key part in this project, by leading a strong engagement campaign to inform our members and ensure they understand what they are voting on.

Qualifications Heres what we need: Minimum 5 years experience in a related communications and engagement role Exemplary written communication skills, with experience writing content for reports, press releases, newsletters, briefing notes, websites, articles, etc.

Experience with social media platforms (creating and publishing content) High-functioning proficiency in English and French Experience using WordPress to publish website content (or another comparable website management software) Post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, or another related field And a combination of any of the following is an asset: Experience with Salesforce (or comparable CRM) Experience with MailChimp (or comparable newsletter software) Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, or InDesign Experience in related associations or industry organizations within the agricultural or regulatory space How to Apply Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person not just a resume.
