Position is initially remote working but when facilities open it will be based in Ottawa

What you’ll achieve
Dell is looking for a Wireless AI/ML Technology Director to take part in a once in a career opportunity to get in on the ground floor of building the Advanced Wireless Technology group that will guide wireless product development direction in Dell for years to come.

The Wireless AI/ML Technology Director, will be one of the key leaders of a brand new, built from the ground up, high powered Ottawa wireless technology team.  The team will be responsible for identifying key new wireless technologies for addressing the demands of the 5G, beyond 5G and 6G+ markets.  The team will also do some initial design and prototyping work to validate their recommendations, and to give a head start to the wireless product development team in creating the next generation of Dell wireless products. The candidate for this role will have significant work experience managing and technically leading technology and development teams.

You will:

  • Direct, lead and manage a Wireless AI/ML Technology team which will include RF engineers and data scientists and data engineers

  • Define the AI/ML problems and improves the network performance by leveraging the data-driven approaches. Be able to look at complicated network systems to find bottlenecks or room for improvement in areas such as but not limited to network slicing, SON,  NFV and channel estimation

  • Hiring and maintenance of a diverse and effective workforce & status reporting to stakeholders

  • Experience managing a multi-site team & management of any third-party deliverables

Essential Requirements

  • Proven record of successfully running technology research and development programs for wireless products, preferably 5G, and delivering product to market

  • Experience / in-depth knowledge of the 5G System architecture, Native AI and ML theory and implementation

  • Organized, goal-oriented, self-starter, with a team focused mentality

  • Excellent communication and motivation skills

Desirable Requirements

  • Degree in Computer science/engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields

  • 5G research experience desirable, academia or industry

  • Experience training and applying machine learning models into applications. (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).

  • 15+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
