job description What This Position is All About: The DMM will drive the overall performance of their merchandise group for HBC by establishing and consistently communicating short and long-term merchandising department objectives in support of HBC’s strategy and business objectives.

This position will partner with Merchandise Planning & Allocation and Supply Chain to profitably execute their group’s sales profit, sales, and inventory targets.

This person will define and develop assortment growth opportunities in alignment with banner strategic initiatives.

As The VP, DMM, you will: Strategy: Set strategic direction for specific business using input from SVP GMM.

Translate banner strategy into specific group/department merchandising strategies Financial Analysis: Reviews and direct financial plans for group, partnering with SVP/GPM of Merchandise Planning and Allocation.

Accountable for overall financial performance of the group Brand/Vendor Assortment: Work with Buyers to develop vendor matrix to deliver against strategy Build Internal Relationships: Partner with Marketing to develop group and department sales promotional activities for HBC programs Assortment Planning: Approve and direct development of assortment plan department/categories Negotiation: Direct Buyers in negotiating contracts with vendors, issues management, and exceptions Trend Analysis: Fully conversant with significant market and merchandising trends, ideas, and competitive set in their area People Development: Lead, develop, retain, and recruit a merchandising team capable of fulfilling banner goals and objectives Business Planning: Accountable for using company-approved tools and processes to support planning, analysis, and measurement of business Who Are You: Possesses a strong sense of business Acumen Creativity Deals well with ambiguity Results Driven Customer Focused Effective at building teams Ability to Develop Others Manages Vision And Purpose Possesses strategic Agility Politically Savvy You Also Have: BFA or BA in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field preferred Must have 8-10 years of overall Buying/Merchandising experience, with extensive experience in a management role Must have 6-8 years of experience as multi-category manager, overseeing both the creative and financial aspects of merchandising Experience as a Merchandising Manager in multiple product lines is essential Strong retail math acumen, including elements of markup, margin planning, open to buy, inventory productivity measures (WOS, T/O, GMROI), Assortment Planning.
