For more information, visit www.Telesat.Com.PURPOSE OF JOB◦Be a lead technical authority for LEO Landing Station modems; ◦Provide technical expertise in the development of equipment, software and systems related to the development of LEO Constellation Landing Station modems; ◦Manage technicalrelationships with modem suppliers; ◦Planning, support and execution of over the air and lab validation testsMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:◦Develop and maintain technical requirements for Telesat LEO Constellation Landing Station modems; ◦Develop RFPs andStatements of Work for development and manufacturing of LEO Constellation modems with a focus on the modem technologies and modem chipsets; ◦Identify technical compliance testing and product assurance requirements for manufacturing and qualification of Telesat LEO Constellation Landing Station modems; ◦Monitor technical compliance and quality of product produced by modem suppliers; ◦Recommend and contribute to improvements to LEO system as a wholeEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED◦B.Eng.

(Electrical or Physics), Masters or Ph.D.

Electrical Engineering will be considered assets; ◦Minimum of 5 years’ experience in satellite terminal and/or satellite system designSpecialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities◦Extensive knowledge and experience of satellite communication technologies with strong emphasis on modem design and implementation; ◦Extensive knowledge and experience with multi-carrier operation of DVB-S2/S2X at Kaband, satellite carrier setup and commissioning; ◦Experience usingtesting equipment and simulators; ◦Experience developing procurement requirements; ◦Experience developing and executing acceptance testing plans and procedures; ◦Knowledge of satellite communication access waveforms, techniques, modulation and associated performance tradeoffs; ◦Knowledge of techniques and technologies required for communications with NGSO satellites; ◦Knowledge of satellite modems and hub technology performance; ◦High degree of understanding of both ASIC and FPGA design and manufacturing; ◦Excellent communicator; ◦Ability to summarize complex problems, solutions and recommendations; ◦Fluent in English, written and oral.DECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION:Decision Making◦Develops and recommends solutions related to design, testing, acceptance and operation of feeder link modems; ◦Make decisions about task priorities as required as a project technical lead.Supervision Exercised◦There is no direct reporting staff but this role may be expected to lead multidisciplinary project teams and/or provide technical assistance or guidance to other engineers or specialistsOccasional international travel may be required; therefore, candidates will need to provide proof that they have no national/international travel or visa restrictions; The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
