As a Technical Specialist in Cyber & Information Security you will be responsible for ensuring Economical Insurance and its subsidiaries have the controls necessary to protect the organization against existing and emerging threats.

You are an expert in multiple information security domains and can offer advice and consulting services to internal teams and projects to ensure their solutions meet or exceed industry best practices.

You look at the big picture to ensure that small initiatives do not adversely affect the larger solution or the company.

What can you expect in this role?

Collaborate with team members across technology to ensure the overall solution includes requirements based on business requirements and technology standards, processes and policies Plan and prioritize tasks to ensure effective and efficient delivery of service for the technical area of accountability and ensure adequate resource coverage to meet business demands Participate in governance forums required for the technical area of specialty and ensure follow-up items are completed in alignment with the target data and business priority Validate completeness and accuracy of requirements for each area of delivery and confirm outcomes have met the requirements Act as an expert resource providing insight and recommendations based on industry and technology trends, technology strategy and experience and share direction and learnings with team members Assess risk during projects and on a daily basis for the specific area of technical expertise based on the complexity, maturity of the technology, experience of the team members and criticality of the solution to the business; identify and execute risk mitigation plans Build relationships with business and TS partners across all teams and work collaboratively to identify solutions and resolve any variances from stated business objectives Deliver on all assigned tasks ensuring they are accurate, complete and delivered adhering to all defined Technology and Information Security & Risk standards What do you bring to the role?

5 years’ experience in a technical area of security specialty (assessing, recommending and implementing application and infrastructure controls) University degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline Relevant industry related certification CISSP, GSEC, OSCP, GIAC, etc.

Strong customer service, verbal communication and technical documentation skills Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion in sensitive situations Strong technical knowledge and experience with security infrastructures (e.g.

Firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, Web Content Filtering, DLP, SIEM, Cryptography) Experience with Vulnerability Management practices (both network infrastructure and application security testing) and have experience detecting and analyzing vulnerabilities and making technical recommendations on remediation paths.

Familiar with secure coding practices and have knowledge and experience with securing applications using Application Security tools at all stages of the SDLC via CI Automation and Integration with CI/CD pipeline tools Knowledge of containers and deployment of containerized applications/microservices architectures Holistic understanding of cloud integration and technologies (including SAAS, PAAS, IAAS public and private cloud infrastructure) Knowledge and experience in risk assessments and validating compliance of technical controls to industry authorities and regulators (PCI, OSFI, NIST, ISO, PIPEDA) and recommendation of controls that would meet or exceed industry best practices.

Familiar with incident response methodologies, SIEM monitoring and tuning, and evidence gathering This position can be located in Kitchener or Toronto We also take potential into consideration.
