Technical Lead, Technology Currency & Modernization

RBC

This is a Contract position in Ottawa, ON posted July 13, 2021.

What is the opportunity?

In this role as Technical Lead, Technology Currency & Modernization, you will provide technical leadership and execution of activities related to technology currency
– remediation activities required to maintain/improve the bank’s resiliency posture and aligned with established technology/IT Risk best practices for a number of applications in the group’s portfolio.

What will you do?

Work directly with the technology currency and application development teams for all outstanding remediation activities, which may include application development/testing/deployment and, infrastructure/software (in house or vendor product)/component upgrades.

Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure work activities are sized, prioritized, and executed per plans to meet scheduled/committed timelines.

Collaborate with key technology stakeholders – infrastructure, DBA, IT Risk, Global Cyber Security, Application Support, to stay abreast of technology changes.

Spearhead and guide the team through changes as a result of transformation initiatives that are aligned with RBC’s technical strategy.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have: 5 years’ broad and in-depth experience with programming languages/technologies used in the application portfolio: Java, .NET, Spark/Scala (Hadoop platform), Python/pySpark, ETL, Solace MQ, Active Directory/LDAP.

5 years’ experience (development/administration) with multiple relational database platforms including Oracle, MS-SQL Server, MySQL, etc.

5 years’ experience on Windows, UNIX/Linux OS platforms, including scripting (bash/sh/csh/powershell).

Solid DevOps engineering experience with continuous integration/delivery best-practices, technologies and tools such as Subversion/GitHub, Jenkins, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, and Urban Code Deploy.

Nice-to-have: Experience with Capital Markets or other financial technology services’ middle/back office environments.

Exposure to Test driven development and automated unit testing.
