Team Lead, Production

This is a Contract position in Ottawa, ON posted June 17, 2021.

Division Summary Located in Milton, Ontario, Modatek Systems is a divsion of Magna International.

At Modatek, our dedicated team produce chassis systems utilizing innovative hydroforming, automated welding, and electrostatic coating processes within a large, safety-focused facility.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance to layered audit schedules, safety rules, TS 16949, standardized work, housekeeping, 5s and quality requirements
• Document Team member attendance on Team Tracking sheet, input hours and absence codes into Time & Attendance
• Prepares downtime and production reports for pre & post shift meetings to support Area Leader
• Documents hourly counts on production analysis sheets
• Documents and dispositions all non-conforming material
• Ensures that Team Member SQTCM needs are met
• Conducts on the job training under direction of the Area Leader (Standardized work, etc.)
• Conducts shop floor orientations with all new Team Members including transfers from other departments
• Maintains and files training matrices and checklists
• Provides feedback to Area Leaders regarding team Member performance, including participating in the Performance Appraisal Process
• Promotes accountability by providing formal and informal feedback to Team Members, including application of the progressive discipline process up to counseling and documents on work history cards
• Enters all Material Disposition Reports (MDRs) into the SAP system
• Tracks and submits statistics on the cost of poor quality
• Participates in fast response meetings
• Updates paperwork at stations (e.g.

inspections data sheets, downtime sheets, information boards, green and white part samples)
• Tracks performance of layered audits (e.g.

track number of audits completed)
• Participates in completing PDCA’s for the department
• Practices and promotes continuous improvements of manufacturing processes and identifies possible cost reduction opportunities
• Participates in facilitating start of shift meetings as required
• Troubleshoots equipment problems to ensure quality and efficiency
• Schedules and posts shift and work requirements
• Conducts Team/Safety talks as required by Area Leader
• Performance duties of team Members for absence and relief, etc.

• Participates in accidents/incident investigations
• Leads using the Modatek values of Integrity, Trust, Honesty, Fairness and Loyalty and Modatek Operating System initiatives
• Follows and complies with all operational Procedures as outlines in the Team Member Handbook, Quality and Environmental Programs (i.e.

TS16949, ISO 14001)
• Understands, promotes and lives by the Magna’s philosophies and the Employee Charter
• Performs other duties as required Key Qualifications/Requirements
• Demonstrated leadership abilities
• Minimum of two (2) years manufacturing experience, preferably automotive
• Strong organizational skills
• Able to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbally, to all levels of the organization
• Ability to perform basic math
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency to achieve results
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to uphold confidentiality
• Team player
• Able to work the dedicated midnight shift (10 pm
– 7 am approximately)
• Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position
• Preference will be given to Team Members that have Committee experience, (JHSC, Fairness, etc.) Additional Information Our people are our greatest asset.
