JOB SUMMARY The SD Ottawa Senior RF Design Engineer will be part of the design team responsible for the full design life products with various levels of reuse and complexity.

This position requires engineering experience with RF design, knowledgeable in CAD processes & RF design tools.

The RF designer must be capable of owning the RF design effort and collaborating with various functional areas for the design, build, and test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The RF Design Engineer will primarily work within an Engineering role, and requires design, maintenance, SOW support, and supplier oversight support.

In addition, responsibilities include test plan generation, static laboratory testing, HIL integration testing, Van Testing, Antenna Wave Front Simulator (AWFS) testing, and Captive Flight airborne testing.

Candidate must possess ability to multi-task, eloquently communicate via written and oral means.

• Design, debug, and test Radio Frequency (RF) and Analog Circuits (power amplifier, low-noise amplifier and filter design)
• Prepare or direct preparation of product layouts, detailed drawings and schematics
• Direct and coordinate manufacture of prototypes
• Plan and develop experimental test programs to verify compliance to all applicable regulations and quality guidelines
• Analyze test data and reports to determine if the proposed design meets functional and performance specifications
• Coordinate with other functional teams during the life cycle of the product and be responsible for and require design modifications
• Evaluate engineering test results for possible application to developments of other systems
• Use of software tools and test equipment to formulate and test electronic designs
• Support production facilities in the manufacture of products
• Interface with the Test Engineers and factory personnel on the testing and production of the products
• Perform cost/performance tradeoff analysis of different circuit options
• Investigate the usage of the latest components and technologies
• Complete documentation of the design in the required formats
• Support module requirements development with systems engineering, perform trade studies, design analysis & simulations, present RF module at design reviews, create schematics while overseeing the layout in CAD, and support the module build.

• Hands on experience in extensive module checkout to the developed test plan and validation to the requirements matrix.

• Conduct investigation activities to identify and resolve RF performance issues.

• Electrical circuit analysis using simulation tools
• Develop detailed system descriptions along with the BOMs (Bill of Materials)
• Work with our CAD Designer to produce detailed design drawings and submittal packages ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Minimum 4 years of RF electronics experience w/strong technical background.

• Knowledgeable in the entire lifecycle of RF module development from requirements through design & production support.

• Familiarity with system thinking in electronic warfare or radar basic concepts, RF signal processing, hardware/software Integration & test process and procedures, field testing.

• Knowledge of advanced technical concepts in sub-systems and application to electronic warfare and radar systems.

• Experience in writing Python scripts to automate and control test equipment an asset.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs).

Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening and reading, able to lift light objects (WORK ENVIRONMENT: The office environment is generally quiet and in a temperature controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to others talking or laughing loudly, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control.

An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their particular duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company/department needs, project requirements or customer demands.

Some overnight travel is required to facilitate work objectives.

While at client site locations, if applicable, employee will be required to adhere to the proper safety precautions established by the client while in proximity to their work area, flight-line or maintenance repair center; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.

The temperature at client locations can vary from controlled to variations off hot/cold when working, standing or walking in or near the flight-line or maintenance repair center.
