Safety Advisor


This is a Contract position in Ottawa, ON posted August 10, 2019.

Rotation/Shifts Days, 8 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements Health and Safety Certificate Program from a recognized Community College (work experience equivalency will be considered); 3 years previous experience in the Occupational Health and Safety sector, preferably in a health care setting; Experience conducting occupational hygiene and indoor air quality assessments; Experience developing and reviewing written measures for safety and hazard control programs; Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Legislation; Clear understanding of Emergency Preparedness and Occupational Safety, preferably in a hospital and research environment; Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Knowledge and experience carrying out respiratory fit testing; Familiarity with the Canadian Standards Association guidelines on respiratory protection and fit testing; Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization; Excellent presentation skills; Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, analytical and decision making skills.

Preferred Qualifications Pursuing Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) designation; Knowledge of Ontario Building Code and Ontario Fire Code; A background in Occupational Hygiene would be an asset; Experience developing a Health & Safety Management System; Proficiency in English and French
– oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
