General Function and Scope: The successful candidate will work closely with software development testing new features and enhancements as they are released.

Testing will focus on the Ross Virtual Production products Voyager AR/VS graphics platform, UX control platform, Trackless Studio system and purpose-built software application for virtual sets, scoreboards, logos 2D and 3D text, animation, lighting, maps, tickers, and more to live television shows.

You’ll also work with multiple 3rd party products that provide telestration, branding, A/R & V/R control and other on-air tools used by today’s broadcasters.

This position is located at our Ottawa Research & Development facility.

Duties, Responsibilities and Accountability: What you will do: We are looking for a Product Verification Specialist to join our team to test Ross Virtual Productions Solutions.

In our brand-new AR/VS studio, you will have access to full line of Ross products, robotic cameras, chroma keyers, routers, switchers, and more.

Your understanding of the Epic Games’ Unreal Engine powering the Voyager platform will enable you to work closely with the development team and perform both functional and subjective testing to verify the products are operating as expected.

Your knowledge of broadcast technologies and network technologies will be essential in setting up various test cases and interpreting the results.

In the role, you will: Learn and become subject matter expert for Ross AR/VS workflow.

Maintain and execute test plan to verify the operation of various components working as part of the Ross Virtual Productions Solutions.

Analyzes and troubleshoots failed test cases, document clear and concise steps to reproduce in a bug report.

Provide feedback to the team for ongoing improvements.

Have fun and enjoy working in an all-star team.

Occasionally, you will: Provide cool demo using the technology, or act as a trainer for other employees.

Assist the customer support team, test customer projects in our studio.

Carry out video lens calibration and other maintenance activities in the studio.

Perform other related duties as required.

What we are looking for: Education in Game Development/Design, Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, or Broadcast Technology.

3+ years of experience in software testing, creating test cases, verification, and risk management.

Knowledge of Windows, networking, and broadcast technology.

Experience with computer programming concepts and scripting languages.

Understand the principles of real-time 3D computer graphics.

Excellent analysis, troubleshooting, and communication skill.

Strong attention for detail and a critical mindset.

Self-starter, able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with minimum supervision.

It’d be nice if you have: Experience working with Unreal Blueprints visual scripting, Unreal Engine, or other game engines.

Experiment with, understand the challenge of virtual reality and augmented reality systems.

Working knowledge of 3D Authoring software.

Proficiency in 3D geometry and trigonometry.

Interest in photography or videography, understanding lighting, camera lens, and related terminologies.

Your workday will be: Situated in an office environment, in the studio, and in some cases in the lab area.

Experience moderate noise level in office and lab areas.

Occasional lifting, bending, stooping required in maintaining lab area and equipment.

Working with computers, robotic camera control systems, and be looking at computer screens and output monitors.
