Title: Packaging Design Engineer (permanent)Location: Kanata, OnDuration: PermanentHow to apply: Include resume as MS Word attachmentCompensation: $70,000 $80,000/year +BONUS +Comprehensive Benefits (see below job description) PACKAGING DESIGN ENGINEER (FULL-TIME) Reporting to the Manager, Package & Support Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, testing and on-going technical and manufacturing support of sealed sources and transport packages used for the shipment of radioisotopes.

You will work closely with the group responsible for the production of sealed radioactive sources used in sterilization applications, and the group responsible for the operation and maintenance of transport packages. RESPONSIBILITIES:Apply a fully proficient and in-depth knowledge of engineering principles and standards.Lead or participate in all aspects of the design, licensing and manufacture of sealed sources and transport packages.

This will include leading the design process; coordinating prototype manufacture; performing safety analyses; creating test specifications, coordinating and executing testing; compiling results and generating reports; and designing or modifying production processes.Lead mechanical engineering projects and be fully accountable to meet defined budgets, schedules, and functionality requirements, commensurate with your work experience.Be responsible for engineering approval on new source and package designs to ensure they have met all the applicable engineering, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.Stay current with the requirements for and capabilities of sources and packages in order to respond to complex queries from regulators and customers.Be able to provide task guidance and quality control for activities of other team members. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:MUST HAVE a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical)MUST HAVE a minimum of five years relevant work experience doing the following:o Design of mechanical components, including the execution of stress analysis and thermal analysis.o Competency in finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics using ANSYS or SolidWorks software tools would be considered an asset.o Familiarity with methods of welding or machining of a range of alloys, of shielding analysis, and of leak testing would be considered an asset.o Experience providing technical recommendations with limited review from senior staff, providing technical guidance to other engineers and to technicians, and providing review and feedback on technical items.o Excellent technical writing skills.Good to have Professional Engineer designation or be eligible for accreditation as a professional engineer.Excellent verbal communication skills.
