IT Generalist

This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted November 19, 2021.

The Role Supporting VetStrategy’s Technology division, the IT Generalist will be responsible for a variety of duties supporting the Corporate Home Office IT needs.

He / she will be responsible for keeping records for computer assets and inventories, providing technical support and troubleshooting services to end-users to resolve any computer hardware or software issues.

In this newly created role, the successful candidate will be required to work out of the Home Office in Vaughan; some travel within Ontario may be required.

Responsibilities Daily management of help desk queues and tickets Remote and onsite support when required Maintain documentation of support and infrastructure Manage recommendation and obtain approvals for procurement of IT equipment and software Setup and installation of new systems and IT equipment Providing support to end users Maintaining lists of IT assets Troubleshooting IT issues Our Ideal Candidate possesses the following Cultural Competencies: We are Relationship Focused In every interaction with the hospitals, we build and maintain personal connections and trust.

Background, Experience and Qualifications Bilingual (English/French) language skills are highly desired Diploma in Network Administration or a related program 5 years’ experience in a similar role Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and MS Office 365 An understanding of network topologies and protocols (including firewalls, routers, switches, etc.) Understanding of remote management tools and techniques Experience with Microsoft Active Directory Some knowledge of Microsoft windows server platform Superior customer service experience, technical support and IT field support is required Ability to work with a variety of internal stakeholders and different divisions, understanding their needs Excellent time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills over the phone, in person, and through email Set clear expectations and define key performance indicators for self Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve problems Set clear expectations and define key performance indicators for self Ability to multi task daily projects and commitments and the ability to work independently Highly motivated, action-oriented, and results driven with a positive ‘can do’ attitude Comfortable working in a pet friendly environment
