General Manager

This is a Contract position in Ottawa region, ON posted May 5, 2018.


Canadian Security Team (CST) is hiring a General Manager who has expertise and knowledge of the Ottawa B2C and B2B market and possesses experience running a small team.

Based in our Ottawa office, the General Manager will be accountable for sales, admin and operations for the National Capital Region. The General Manager will also be responsible for input and advice on strategic direction and issues for the region.

· The GM will have primary responsibility for managing all activities in the Ottawa office, while creating a selling environment that is focused on customer service and achieving business results;

· Develop, forecast and review sales, operations and activity reports to ensure financial viability of the Branch;

· Manage a small cross-functional team in compliance with established policies and procedures;

· Provide direction, training, coaching and leadership to all branch employees;

· Set clear goals for sales and customer experience and ensure records of all activities are maintained in company’s CRM;

· Working closely with the Operations, oversee the Technical team to ensure installations and service calls are completed in a timely and professional manner;

· Determine staffing requirements and oversee the interview, hiring and training of new employees with the assistance of Divisional managers;

· Respond to escalated customer issues in a timely manner;

· Maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.


· Minimum Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, e.g. accounting, finance, business administration or economics. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree;

· 5+ years of sales experience in the Ottawa area mandatory

· Excellent people management skills, able to lead a cross-functional team;

· Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.

· Product knowledge of the Security industry is preferred

· Strong business and financial acumen;

· Efficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and SalesForce;

· Ability to read, understand and calculate banking figures such as; discounts, interest rates, percentages and commission etc.

· Motivate, inspire, deliver and accept feedback to and from employees.

· Possess prioritization skills necessary to use time effectively and set action plans to achieve business targets.

· Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives within a highly competitive market.

· Fluency in both French and English would be an asset.

Work Conditions

· After hours work may be required.

· Ability to attend and conduct presentations.

· Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

· Overtime as required.
