Field Services Specialist Overview: OverDrive is the world’s number one Automated Production Control System.

This job will have you working in a world class development team as well as interacting with television production staff all over the world.

As a Field Services Consultant you will have two primary responsibilities: 1.

Working on helping customers who are experiencing technical issues as quickly as possible.

This will often involve the identification of a workaround procedure or resolution of the problem by fixing configuration issues.

Ideally this will also include reading and understanding the software and the fixes to be tested.

For particularly tricky issues this may involve flying to customer sites to diagnose the issue or to install, test and supervise the adoption of a customer specific fix.


Product Development.

You will work with and provide input to the development team to ensure that they understand customer requirements and configurations, and to keep yourself up to date with the latest product features which you will need to support.

Duties and Responsibilities: Software Development
· Become proficient with the use of microprocessor emulators, scopes, logic analyzers and television test equipment.

· Advise and make recommendations to management on matters relating to software development, to provide them with an improved basis for decision making and planning.

· Respond to internal issues regarding software as assigned.

Customer Support
· Provide second-tier technical support to customers.

· Provide on-site development support at customer facilities as required.

· Ability to work directly with customers to trouble-shoot and come to resolution of their problems, which may involve system configuration or software changes.

· Ability to quickly identify common hardware faults in a system.

· Become an expert in the integration of systems within our customers’ facilities and advise them on system-level issues to assist in resolution of their problems.

· Provide training to Technical Support staff on technical issues related to the product.

· Become an expert in Ross Video products.

This expertise will be gained through a review of the current documentation, direct contact with the product itself and working with the technical personnel.

· Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Knowledge/Education/Training:
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Organized and very detail orientated
· Strong software/system analysis and debugging capabilities with JAVA, C or C++ coding skills being a strong asset
· Knowledge of television production is highly desirable.

· Superior PC/Windows computer skills; average to above average knowledge of Linux; good working knowledge of virtual environment and security
· Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Computer Science or in a related area with appropriate experience.

· Knowledge of low level and/or real time programming would be an asset.

· Strong interpersonal and observational skills.

· Enjoy working with external customers as well as internal teams.

· Self-starter, quick learner who can work with minimum supervision in meeting schedules and project deadlines.

· Able to work independently or as part of a team
· Previous experience working in the Live Broadcast industry would be a strong asset
· Previous experience working in or closely with a development group is an asset Other:
· A valid driver’s license
· A valid passport
· Occasional national and international travel on short notice.
