Modern office space with shared staff and EMR is located in the Buchanan Memorial Community Health Centre.

Buchanan Memorial Community Health Centre (BMCHC) opened officially in 1999 after a storied history.

It was designed with the input from all disciplines to provide an integrated approach to service care and delivery.BMCHC is a short-term care facility located in Neil’s Harbour that serves the 13 communities of Neil’s Harbor, Dingwall, Bay St.

Lawrence, Meat Cove, Ingonish, and surrounding areas.

This covers a population of approximately 4,200 and increases during the summer season.BMCHC is a 10-bed inpatient unit that provides inpatient and outpatient care and clinic-based programs.

It also has a community service wing that houses offices for Public Health, Home Care Nova Scotia, social work, addiction services, and a palliative care coordinator.

Family physicians may participate in the teaching of medical students and family practice residents through Dalhousie University.

Remuneration is via Alternate Payment Plan.

Services: ambulatory care cardiology diagnostic imaging emergency medicine (24/7) internal medicine laboratory services with point of care after hours medical social worker nutrition and diabetes counselling occupational therapy orthopedic medicine palliative care pediatrics physiotherapy primary health care nurse (located within the onsite physician clinic) telehealth services Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to: running a family practice office caring for inpatients providing ER coverage and low volume after hours call.

Qualifications Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) Community Details Very scenic surroundings offer many opportunities for excellent year round outdoor activity.
