Service/Parts Advisor

Thermo King Eastern Canada

This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted January 10, 2019.

Position: Service/Parts Advisor

Location: Ottawa

Reports to: Service Manager

Position Profile

Assist in taking care of our customers with important consideration for sensitive time, temperature & general repair requirements and priorities. Assist in taking care of our front and back counter customers with required parts for their temperature & general repair requirements, purchasing, quotations, shipping & receiving as well as customer service. Maintain a positive attitude and work environment. Accurate communication, data entry, time management will assist in achieving personal and company goals. Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests. Explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.


Service Advisor Responsibilities:

  1. Dispatch for road service technicians and coordinate shop work
  2. Invoicing for Transit Authorities
  3. Invoicing PO for all customers
  4. Customer Service communications and updates
  5. Customer contact for all invoicing related issues
  6. Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and obtaining customer’s approval of estimates
  7. Process warranty claims internal and 3rd party claims

Parts Advisor Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting customer and technicians with their part requirements
  2. Shipping and receiving
  3. Answering calls and email communications
  4. Invoicing of parts
  5. Assisting with quotes
  6. Keeping bin locations up to date and organized
  7. Supporting customer service when required
  8. Invoicing for Transit Authorities
  9. Customer Service communications and updates
  10. Delivery and pick up of parts and or equipment (A-Z license an advantage)

Working Environment:

1. Noise from shop

3. Some shift work ( days and afternoons)

2. Dust from yard

Physical and Mental Effort:


  1. 60% of day working on computer/phone
  2. 2. Operating Forklift
  3. Pick up and delivery
  4. Lifting up to 50lb


Education/Professional Development Requirements:

College Diploma

Experience Requirements:

2 years Customer Service Experience and Parts Experience

Administrative or Customer Experience an asset

Computer experience in Microsoft Office

A-Z license or willingness to pass course

Behavioural Competencies Required:

Must be personable and proficient

Must maintain a high level of professionalism

Ability to communicate and respond in an effective and professional manner

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Ability to use judgment and tact when dealing with general inquiries

Superior Customer Service Skills

Ability to handle a high volume of work in fast-paced challenging environment

Technical Competencies Required:

Proficient in MS Office

Accurate data entry

Time management skills

Operating Air Brake vehicles
