Principal Application Developer (Full Stack)


This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted October 1, 2021.

ADP is seeking a Principal Application Developer to join our agile team.

Responsibilities: Technical Analysis
– analyzing systems, problems, programs, formulating solutions.

Technical Design
– ensuring that all work undertaken is of sound design and fits in with the existing architecture.

Planning & Technical Leadership
– assists in the planning and development activities for members of a project team.

In consultation with development manager, coordinates and assigns associates to various tasks within a project.

Application Development
– Codes programs to specification, prepares test data, test and debugs programs at the highest complexity level.

Mentoring Peers, Programmer Analysts & Senior Programmer Analysts on project objectives, methodology, standards, and/or area of expertise.

Participates in requirements gathering and reviews, assesses technical feasibility, assists in defining solutions, and prepares development artifacts where required.

Conducts code walk through and reviews with team members.

Communicates progress and issues to manager in timely fashion.

Monitors changes in technology; remains up-to-date on current industry trends and internal architecture practices, principles, models and standards; trains technical staff on new technologies.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or related engineering field or equivalent experience.

Strong Agile software development experience is a requirement 10 years of experience building cross-browser Enterprise Applications using UI Technologies: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and SASS/LESS, TypeScript Strong font-end development experience using JS Frameworks such as REACT, JQuery, Angular, Bootstrap, DOJO, etc.

High proficiency in Object Oriented design & programming using Java/JEE Service Oriented Architecture & Development using restful services (nice to have JAX-RS) Passion to produce high quality application using various automation tools & unit testing technologies (Selenium, LeanFT, Mockito, Junit, Jasmine, etc.) Nice to have: experience with Docker, Micro services, node.js, IOC and Dependency Injection Must be able to work independently and with minimum supervision.

Strong sense of responsibilities and quality focus, fast learner and excellent interpersonal skills High attention to detail with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Comfortable in proactively communicating with others both within and outside of the immediate team to resolve issues and get questions answered.

Ability to multi-task, triage issues, react well to changes in a fast paced environment Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently to resolve complex issues in a timely manner.

Experience with working with remote teams on international locations Ability to work under deadlines with heavy workloads as well as flexibility to work outside of normal business hours to meet testing needs.
