Ergonomist – Consultant


This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted September 6, 2018.

Our Private sector client is seeking a Ergonomist – Consultant for a 12 month contract in the Ottawa Area. You will be responsible for providing health & safety and ergonomic services and solutions to customers in Ottawa and surrounding areas. The Consultant will have a background in ergonomics and will provide expertise in the discipline of ergonomics with the goal of preventing musculoskeletal disorders (MSD), improving overall health, enhancing productivity, quality and morale in the workplace.

Roles and Responsibilities

-Consults with clients (internal and external) to help identify MSD hazards, qualitatively and quantitative assess the risks, and make recommendations for improving the tools, equipment, layout materials, environment, work practices, work station, organizational factors and other processes;
-Collaborates with Account Managers to ensure projects are effectively executed, meeting identified customer needs and ensuring a high degree of customer satisfaction and retention;
-Promotes the benefits of implementing health and safety initiatives while working at customer sites, actively looking for opportunities to expand the service offering;
-Provides on-site and public training and facilitation services to customers to increase workplace health and safety awareness, using established WSPS training standards and materials;Nurtures, develops and maintains relationships with assigned customers while delivering services.
Qualifications and Experience

-Certificate or Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics or related discipline from a Community College and/or equivalent combination of education and experience;
-Registered Kinesiologist (R. Kin) or Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist (CCPE);3-5 years related industry experience or 5 – 7 years’ experience applying ergonomics in the manufacturing, service, and agricultural sectors;
-Knowledge of Health and Safety, including legislation and technical standards;
-Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all organizational levels;
-Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle that meets minimum MTO safety standards.
