JOB SUMMARY Satcom Direct Avionics ULC, Inc.

is seeking a full-time hardware engineer to join our Satcom Product Development Team based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

This position will assume a hardware engineer role as part of our Satcom Technology Team RESPONSIBILITIES Document high-level hardware requirements Design electronics hardware to specification and for manufacture-ability.

Develop avionics solutions for aviation, based on industry standards (RTCA DO-160, DO-178 and others) QUALIFICATIONS Proficient in Altium design capture & layout Experience in the programming and usage of FPGA’s for signal processing and control Experience in designing IP networking and Wireless networking (802.11) products Experience with bug tracking software such as JIRA, Bugzilla, Testlink, TFS or similar products Experience with the full product life cycle Hardware testing experience including knowledge of different methodologies and the use of third party tools Experience RS-232, GSM, ARINC429, SPI, PCIe interfaces Experience operating in an AS9100 environment, including design against DO-178B Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to interact successfully with internal and external groups Ability to work effectively on an individual basis and in a team Effective and confident decision making and problem solving skills Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment Ability to maintain confidentiality Excellent organizational skills Excellent time management skills Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience in the aviation/aerospace fields 3+ years of experience in designing hardware for embedded systems (PPC, ARM, 68K and/or other platform) 3+ years of experience designing avionics against DO-160 requirements SD is committed to hiring the most qualified candidates for approved company positions, without preference to any individual on the basis of race, color, age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
