Software Developer (Co-op)Office Location: Ottawa, OntarioEnvironment: Work from homeDLS Technology Corporation Ottawa, OntarioDLS Technology Corporation is currently recruiting two co-op students to fulfill Software Developer positions in Ottawa.As part of our growing team, you will be responsible for developing software, testing software products, documentation and providing customer support services.The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be passionate and energetic about their tasks, and be willing to go above and beyond, if needed, to get the job done.ResponsibilitiesTake development tasks from conception to completion.Analyze requirements, write unit tests and implement application testing logic.Attend planning sessions and aide in the requirements gathering phase of the developmentprocess.Assist in the development of technical requirements documents and timeline estimates.Participate in regular code reviews and help formulate and ensure adherence to both industry and DLS best practices and guidelines.Unit and component test of all code.Automate and write scripts for applications and products while integrating existing workflows offered live from a cloud-based infrastructure.Perform testing of developed components within the context of the solution.Create, update and maintain detailed design documents and support websites.Conduct maintenance coding and debugging activities.Proactively update issues using bug tracking tools (Jira) and documentation.Organize work priorities and manage your time effectively to support the managers and teams.Obtain and license software by obtaining required information from vendors; recommend purchases, test and approve products.Ensure the confidentiality of DLS intellectual property and commercial information is protected.Identify and present innovative and creative product solutions.Support project manager on all product and solution launches, changes, integration and updates.Coordinate meetings and projects with DLS and customers and provide technical on-site and off-site support.Coordinate and build strong working relations with both the product development team and other internal organizations including sales & marketing, consulting, and operations.Develop and conduct specialized training on new products launched and raise awareness of any relevant subject matter.Monitor internal processes for efficiency and validity for pre and post product launches/changes.Participate in opportunities to develop both personally and professionally.KnowledgeExcellent knowledge of the Linux operating system including but not limited to BASH, system configuration, common networking applications and file systems.Linux platform automation experience is significantly valued.Fundamental understanding of common software applications and concepts such as Apache, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and scripting.Intermediate knowledge of database systems (e.G., MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres).Knowledge of virtualization is an asset, including Citrix XenApp, Citrix XenDesktop, Citrix NetScaler, VMware vSphere, VMware View, VMware Player, Oracle VirtualBox, Microsoft Hyper V and App-v technologies.Web development experience (e.G., PHP, jQuery, JavaScript, Postgres)Must HaveCurrently study in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.Excellent knowledge of the Linux operating system.Knowledge of coding languages (e.G.

BASH, Python, PHP, jQuery, JavaScript, Postgres).Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.Complex problem-solving skills, and dedication to quality results.Effective at prioritizing multiple tasks and reporting issues to leadership.Highly self-motivated, self-managed, and willingness to learn.Excellent written and oral communication skills (in English).Ability to work independently, take action and contribute new ideas required in a diverse, fast-paced, team environment.Attention to detail.Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite
