This is a Contract position in Ottawa region, ON posted May 6, 2018.

Fullscript is currently seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to create reporting and analytical solutions to improve business operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for mining, manipulating and transforming our data so it can be readily used for analysis and decision making, as well as creating and maintaining the technology infrastructure to support this.

About the role

Our ideal Business Intelligence Developer will be passionate about both the technical aspects of building business intelligence systems and the challenge of how data can be used to drive value within the organization.

What you get to do

  • Design and develop data models and ETL processes for downstream reporting and analysis, including the creation and maintenance of fact and dimension tables within a data warehouse and the development of validation tools and processes.
  • Responsible for daily database operations, including support SQL jobs, backup and recovery, creating custom reports and views, and maintaining and monitoring a database environment.
  • Create technical documentation to track processes, transfer knowledge, maintain data accuracy, and enforce standardization.
  • Facilitate and perform regular UAT and QA testing to ensure downstream data accuracy, reliability, and quality.
  • Share technical expertise with the team and provide recommendations for best practices.

What you bring

  • 3+ years experience developing data-centric technical solutions and the application of data warehousing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts, and experience designing robust solutions by identifying common issues and recommending best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of relational and dimensional data models.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Keen interest in learning more about programming, ETL and data engineering. Experience writing and implementing data processing pipelines in Golang, Python, Scala or any other language considered an asset.
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn and grow rapidly.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Effective problem solver who is comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and perform under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts to business users.
