Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director, Health, Safety, Security & Environment plays a critical leadership role within the Canadian operations of a global leader in the marine and logistics sectors.

The Director coordinates and implements safety and environment management systems throughout DP World Canada.

The incumbent initiates and proactively monitors safety and environment initiatives, develops and implements policy and procedures and plans training across a multi-site environment.

The Director is responsible for ensuring best-in-class practices and the overall health and safety, security and environmental performance of DP World Canada.

The Director has primary accountability for developing and implementing policy to ensure legal compliance (local, provincial and federal) and to focus the organization on prevention.

The role requires a relentless approach to safety, accident prevention and environmental compliance.

The incumbent must liaise and coach individuals at all levels of the organization to affect organizational, individual and technical changes in support of excellence in safety and environmental management.

The Director is also responsible for producing audit methodology, action plans for implementation and achieving full compliance in all areas of DP World Canada’s operations.

The ability to lead through influence in a progressive and holistic manner alongside bringing strategic insight and an entrepreneurial spirit will be paramount to the work at hand.

The ideal candidate brings an outstanding track record of implementing health, safety, security and environmental management systems within a large, complex and multi-faceted company.

The incumbent will be driven by excellence and best practices which they will foster and enable technically and culturally, across the organization.

Experience in the marine, heavy industrial or related industries is key along with a track record of working collaboratively with a unionized workforce.
