As a member of the DC Traction Infrastructure Systems engineering team, you will work on projects to provide Transit Authorities with high quality Traction Power substation equipment, in order to power up their electrical train/metros/trams systems.

You will be the technical support for all design activities (both in-house and out-sourced) related to diverse AC to DC conversion equipment, as well as DC protection and distribution equipment, related to engineering projects mainly in North America, under the Electrification division, Distribution Solutions unit.

Reporting to the Engineering manager, you will drive excellence
– ensuring that design activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with customer expectations, contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.Your responsibilities Collaborating with Senior Product Engineers, Project Managers and Operations staff to deliver designs in a timely manner with high-quality deliverables that meet customer expectations.

Provide technical solutions for Direct Current industrial equipment in accordance with customer specifications and applicable standards Design of electrical equipment, including equipment structure, sheet metal enclosures, electrical busbar systems, and device mounting.

Contributing to design reviews and verification following established QA/QC process, providing feedback on design aspects, and making necessary modifications.

Produce Bill of Material and enter them in ERP system (SAP) Perform detailed and parts drawings of custom parts.

Validate mechanical design solutions from sub-suppliers.

Support equipment production in Montreal factory and other ABB facilities.

Determine scope of work, estimate project costs, resources and timelines for delivery of projects.

Address technical queries and respond to project delivery issues, ensuring timely resolution and the customer satisfaction.

Ensure documents are controlled in a consistent format and all changes are recorded accurately.Your background Ability to read, understand and communicate in both French and English Technical Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical design 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design, industrial equipment design Experience in 3D software design, mandatory Experience with Solid Edge or Inventor Software, an asset Knowledge of Direct Current Equipment i.e.

Diode rectifiers, Low voltage DC Breakers, an asset Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferable) Strong ownership and communication skills Proven design skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining the high attention to details.
