This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted April 6, 2021.

My client is looking for a Software Support Technician to join their team.

The chosen candidate will use the latest technologies to transform software products and to solve challenging problems.Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the Software Support Technician serves as a technical support for the support, maintenance, and upgrades of the companies primary software systems.

This individual will be hands-on and oversee all software on a daily basis.Equally comfortable working alone, as working in a team, you will be a creative thinker, eager to learn, and one who takes extreme pride in a problem solved and a positive outcome.RESPONSIBILITIES:Seeks to understand, replicate and resolve complicated technical issues raised through the day-to-day support of the three main software packages widely used within the organization.Maintain software through routine maintenance and planned and proactive updates.Analyze, identify and resolve system issues, while recommending enhancements or fixes.Upgrade the software, as required using a project management discipline.Validate upgrades in a test environment to reduce the risk of disruption to the business.Document changes to the systems that will help IT colleagues or end users.Assist in database activities when required.Mentor other members of the IT team and the business when required.Support the technology and communication tools in the company’s vehicles.REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Self-starter demonstrates excellence in relationship building with all departments e.G.

Operations, Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Finance, and Customer Support.3-5 years’ working experience in a similar position for technology.Experience in IT in a retail, transportation, and/or home heating environment preferred.Proven planning, prioritization, and execution skills.Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Excellent verbal and written communications skills.Experience with Sybase databases would be an asset.Some knowledge of Linux operating systems.ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge and experience working with retail back office and point of sale systems is desirable.Experience with PowerShell would be an asset.You have a deep commitment to helping people achieve more, and care deeply about providing an excellent customer experience.Other:
