The QNX BSP Team is looking for strong and enthusiastic driver developers to design and implement the next generation computing platforms in automotive.  This person will be part of a development team responsible for creating software drivers to support next-gen hardware peripherals on some of the most advanced hardware platforms available.  You must be someone with ideas and real passion for software delivered to maximize reuse, efficiency, and simplicity. This engineer’s work will affect millions of users and be essential to the success of QNX.

Our BSP and Driver Development Team are seeking experienced BSP and driver developers. The successful candidate will report directly to the Manager, BSP and Driver Development. The purpose of the job is to develop software drivers for various hardware peripherals including adaptation of existing drivers as well as development of new driver architectures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop software drivers for various hardware peripherals including adaptation of existing drivers as well as development of new driver architectures  Examples of hardware peripherals requiring drivers: Ethernet, USB controllers (xhci, ehci, etc.), USB Class (ethernet, mass storage, HID, etc.), ATAPI, Audio, Serial, PCI, etc.
  • Support of new peripheral hardware using existing driver frameworks Development of board support packages 
  • Development of new driver architectures to support future hardware peripheral advancements 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 2 – 5 years (minimum) experience in software development Specialized

Requires Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of applicable programming languages (C, Assembly) and operating systems (QNX, pSOS+, VxWorks,
  • Experience developing and debugging Ethernet and USB drivers. Windows CE, RTLinux, or similar  UNIX-based OS) 
  • Prior experience in developing and testing of relevant buses and device drivers (block, networking, SPI, I2C, MOST, USB, Serial, VME, PCI, PC-104, etc.)
  • Fundamental understanding and development experience with major processor architectures 32 & 64bit (ARM, x86, PPC, etc.) 
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and team building skills are required
