Heavy Earthworks Operator – Civil Earthworks Construction – Excavator/Dozer Virtual Hiring Event

This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted October 1, 2021.

Taking direction from and reporting to the Shift Lead, this position entails running and maintaining an Excavator and/or Dozer at a finishing level on civil earthworks construction sites.

This is a site based position working on projects throughout Alberta.

Operators will also be expected to perform on-site, labour-based activities when not operating equipment.

Versatility, flexibility and a positive attitude are required in this position.

The position is project site based and as such, LOA or hotel accommodations meal allowance is provided.

Responsibilities Excavator Minimum 3 years’ experience as a finish operator Cut ditch to finish grade Load various types of trucks Finish topsoil Strip Organics Daily inspection Cleaning of equipment, as required Dozer Minimum 3 years’ experience as a finish operator Distinguish & separate materials Read survey stakes GPS experience an asset Daily inspection Cleaning of equipment, as required Qualifications Able to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team Positive and safety conscious attitude Service equipment and perform routine maintenance Reliable and have a strong work ethic Able to work overtime and weekends – shift work and travel required Experienced and competent and able to pass a competency assessment Training & Certification H2S Alive (required) CSTS -09 or 2020 (required) Ground Disturbance Level II (required) Bear Awareness or Wilderness Awareness (required) Standard First Aid (an asset) Technical requirements After signing up, you will be sent an email with instructions on how to connect.
