Working Arrangement Hybrid Job Description Global Wealth & Asset Management (GWAM) is the global asset management arm of Manulife and provides fee-based wealth solutions to retail, retirement and institutional customers around the world.

The Director, GWAM Risk Center, will be responsible for supporting the Head of GWAM Risk Center’s mandate to design, implement, execute and monitor an effective risk governance and management program, and with overseeing operational risk mitigation activities, across Global Wealth and Asset Management.

Key Responsibilities: Support the effective implementation of a risk framework within the Global Wealth & Asset Management segment.

This will include, but is not limited to, the following: Lead the creation of tools and reports to meet corporate risk, business, client and regulatory needs; Ensuring consistency in reporting, quality of methodology and work product and adherence to enterprise standards and policies across GWAM businesses; Review and support the business Risk Officers for operational risk event management, RCSA, and corrective action plan tracking; Support the GWAM Risk Management Committee with reporting and action plan tracking; Coordinate with the Corporate level risk functions for reporting and analysis on corporate risk programs to support risk governance activities across the GWAM organization.

Handle the collection of information from the business to prepare reporting to risk committees, management and executive teams as well as other key partners such as regulators and the board of directors; Review and analyze risk data to assess the risk exposure within the various business area across Global Wealth and Asset Management; Manage the design and implementation of reporting processes to satisfy risk framework elements, and provide meaningful information to business; Support the development of a strong risk culture and work with the business to reinforce accountability and transparency across the organization.

The Candidate: We are looking for a professional who can bring expertise in the asset management industry across various asset classes, which may include fixed income, equities, real estate, private debt, mortgages, derivatives, with knowledge of various vehicle types such as separate accounts, mutual funds and ETFs.

In addition, we are looking for relevant experience to support the design, implementation and/or execution of a Risk Management framework for a large financial institution.

Requirements: A seasoned risk professional with 5-7 years of risk management, finance and/or audit experience; Strong working knowledge of the wealth and asset management industry and related business processes, risks and controls or exposure to business unit operational functions and projects that incorporate the usage of operational risk management methodologies; Thorough understanding of risk management concepts and practices (frameworks, governance, reporting, etc.); Comprehensive understanding of foundational elements of an operational risk management program in the financial services industry; Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with the ability to build effective working relationships to deliver results; Strong program and project management skills and ability to independently handle multiple, conflicting priorities and deliver a quality result within tight deadlines; Highly organized with an ability to work in a fast-paced, multi stakeholder environment and manage multiple priorities A highly motivated and results-oriented individual with an established track record in building effective programs and transforming strategy into action; Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with others to implement new solutions; Expertise in developing and leading segment wide information gathering, storage, analysis, and reporting processes; Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to articulate complex technical issues.
