Manager, Accounting (Temporary)

Note: This is a 7-month temporary mandate About the role We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships.

This new position will lead a team of 10-15 staff who provides accounting services to Finance and line of business.

This includes the development, implementation and administration of accounting policies, processes and internal controls, related but not limited to general ledger, fixed assets, project accounting and banking activities.

This role will have the responsibilities to develop and maintain efficient processes for preparing general ledger transactions, and performing analyses and reconciliations that will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.

What you will need
• Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience with 3 years of supervisory or management experience.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting policies, processes and systems, particularly as they relate to the areas of responsibility.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of internal controls applicable to general ledger activities.

• Advanced demonstration of leadership behaviours including taking care of the needs of the team, supporting individuals through change, and creating the conditions to enable performance excellence and innovation.

• Solid leadership and project management skills.

• Advanced ability to analyze information and situations, to synthesize key elements, and summarize with recommendations.

• Strong ability to engage with others, getting buy-in to deliver results and skilfully influencing to build support and enhance credibility.

• Advanced ability to foster an environment that motivates and energizes employees to perform at their best.

• Asset-Professional accounting designation (CPA).

What you will be doing
• Oversees the processes for general ledger transactions to ensure transactions are processed accurately, efficiently and within approved performance standards.

• Develops and implements effective internal control and policies with respect to transaction processing.

Develops and maintains guidelines and procedures related to journal voucher processing, analyses, reconciliations and preparation of input schedules and reports.

• Provides timely and effective functional guidance and advice to line of business.

• Monitors and assesses the effectiveness of processes and continuously seeks for opportunities for improvements and efficiencies.

• Provides day-to-day leadership and guidance to team members, including the operational planning and scheduling of work, and resolution of escalated issues.

• Coordinates and manages processes related to quarterly and year-end closing of the general ledger.
