Job DescriptionFluent.ai believes that voice has the potential to be the dominant interface for a range of todays devices, from voice attendants, to wearables, to smart home devises. However, current speech recognition technology is challenged by regional accents, speech impediments, and background noise, making it just a little too unreliable for wide scale adoption. We employ sophisticated neural network and machine learning technology that works entirely in the acoustic domain to create a speech to understanding solution focused on understanding the user achieving the reliability we need. So far we’ve raised over two million dollars from global investors, and we have early revenues from lead customers in Europe and Asia. We are looking for a highly-driven, self-motivated, and hands-on VP Finance and Administration to assume control of a variety of finance, accounting, and administrative functions, and eventually build and lead the Finance and Administration team. You will implement and evolve cost-effective international financial processes and controls.You will also manage the day-to-day activities related to finance, human resources, contract management, and legal operations – assuring quality control across all functions. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with the leadership team, decision makers, and external third parties in order to identify, recommend, develop, and implement cost-effective systems in support of operations and customer-centric solutions. We have a vibrant location in downtown Montreal, however the position could also be located in Ottawa. Responsibilities * Lead the Finance and Administrative team including the Human Resources, IT, Legal, and Contract Management functions. * Develop and implement procedures and systems for the financial control of the company. * Prepare and review monthly/annual financial budgets and statements and analyze the variances between actual and budget. Ensure on-time, quality and accurate submission. * Ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP and other relevant tax standards. * Provide relevant findings and recommendations to the CEO and peers on the leadership team which ensure that operating and strategic decisions can be made in the context of understanding their financial impact, including early alert to both opportunities and problem areas. * Work with CEO to prepare and execute quarterly Board meetings, as well as company financing activities. * Manage relationships with chartered banks, legal counsel, government institutions, investors and the auditing firm with regards to all business matters. * Manage effectiveness of HR function and ensure top-tier policies and procedures are implemented and maintained. * Manage, mentor and grow the Finance and Administration team, as required. Requirements * Bachelor of Commerce Degree, MBA or equivalent. * Professional accounting designation. * 10 or more years of experience in a financial management function, preferably with five or more years in an early stage technology company where technology or software licensing was the primary revenue source. * An intelligent, high-energy leader who is able to successfully work in a fast-paced, non-bureaucratic environment. * Strong, straight-forward communications, and presentation skills. * Self-motivated and able to proactively manage multiple tasks and projects. * Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. * Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate complex issues/requests across multiple teams. * Experience in fast-growing, venture-backed companies, and in raising financing would be an asset.
