Job DescriptionTechnology Architect Position Description CGI currently has a requirement for a Technology Architect (TOGAF) for a long term contract OR full-time/permanent opportunity in the Ottawa area. The resource will provide the services to support our client’s business and technology requirements under the mandate by ensuring that operational demands are maintained and internally available resources and skill sets are supplemented. The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience: Your future duties and responsibilities * Develop technical architectures, frameworks and strategies, either for an organization or for a major application area, to meet the business and application requirements. * Identify the policies and requirements that drive out a particular solution. * Analyze and evaluate alternative technology solutions to meet business problems. * Ensures the integration of all aspects of technology solutions. * Monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions fit with government and industry directions for technology. * Provide information, direction and support for emerging technologies. * Perform impact analysis of technology changes. * Provide support to applications and/or technical support teams in the proper application of existing infrastructure. * Review application and program design or technical infrastructure design to ensure adherence to standards and to recommend performance improvements. Required qualifications to be successful in this role * The resource has a minimum of five years’ experience in developing technical architectures, frameworks and strategies, either for an organization or for an application area, to meet the business and application requirements. * The resource has a minimum of five years’ experience in analyzing and evaluating alternative technology solutions to meet business problems. * The resource has a minimum of five years’ experience in providing impact analysis of technology changes to technical and non-technical terms. * The resource has a minimum of five years’ experience in ensuring the integration of a technology solution. * The resource has experience in developing technical architectures, frameworks and strategies for Information Technology* Complex Systems**. * Information Technology is defined as a field of study dealing with the creation and architecture of software that directly supports the delivery of informatics services. **Complex Systems is defined as a group of interacting, interrelated systems that must provide immediate access and response (real time) to users performing time sensitive tasks where accuracy of data is critical. * The resource has experience, within the last ten years, in analyzing and evaluating alternative technology solutions for mainframe and distributed platform environments. * The resource has experience in reviewing technical infrastructure design to ensure adherence to prescribed standards and to recommend performance improvements for Information Technology* Complex Systems**. * Information Technology is defined as a field of study dealing with the creation and architecture of software that directly supports the delivery of informatics services. ** Complex Systems is defined as a group of interacting, interrelated systems that must provide immediate access and response (real time) to users performing time sensitive tasks where accuracy of data is critical. * The resource has experience, within the last ten years, using iterative development methodologies (i.e. Rational Unified Process [RUP]) on IT Projects * The resource has experience performing all of the tasks detailed in section 5.3.6 of Annex A (SOW), within the last ten years, working as a Technology Architect (or equivalent title) in a Federal Government department or agency. * The resource has received training or a certification or both in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)**The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) is defined as the methods and tools for assisting in the acceptance, production, use, and maintenance of an enterprise architecture.
