Intermediate Civil Highway/Transportation Design Technician – Ottawa,

CH2M is searching for a Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist to join our growing Ottawa Transportation Practice.

This individual will be focused on the delivery of civil roadway, highway, and transit projects and programs for CH2M’s clients across Ontario. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of a roster of projects, working with design and production teams located in multiple offices. The ideal candidate will be a technician with 5-8 years of experience who is a highly motivated individual looking to expand their skills and responsibilities.


· Prepare preliminary and detailed plans, sections, details and schematic drawings following the required CAD standards from the associated clients on a variety of transportation and civil assignments.

· Create alignments and build profiles and cross section sheets.

· Prepare miscellaneous grading and drainage drawings and details.

· Assisting designers in providing quantity take-offs.

· Work closely with project lead design engineers and other design technician/technologists to help deliver quality project deliverables.

· Ensuring that the projects’ needs are met and work is delivered in a timely and effective manner.

· Participate in and document local existing condition site reviews.

· Other related duties as required

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

· Diploma from a Technician or Technologist program (Civil/Transportation Engineering)

· Minimum 5 years’ experience is desired.

· Ministry of Transportation Ontario project experience is an asset.

· City of Ottawa and other Ontario municipality experience is an asset.

· Design Build experience an asset.

· Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation is a requirement.

· Experience with Civil 3D and/or InRoads is considered an asset.

· Experience developing utility coordination drawings is a requirement.

· Experience developing property plans is an asset.

· Ability to work on multiple projects with multiple design teams at the same time.

· Strong communication skills.

· Excellent technical, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
