Job DescriptionColliers Project Leaders Accounting Team has an opening for a Corporate Accountant to join our team in Ottawa. This is a 14 month term contract to cover a Maternity leave. As a Corporate Accountant with our team, you must be have a minimum of 3 years accounting experience in a medium-sized or larger-sized enterprise and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The Accountant is responsible for processing journal entries, performing account analysis and reconciliations, and processing month end review. What you’ll get to do as a Corporate Accountant at Colliers Project Leaders : * Prepare and enter journal entries * Maintain Joint-Venture and and other Service Types projects * Analyze, investigate, and correct accounting entries as neededComplete assigned internal reports on a monthly / quarterly basis, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient * Month end review * Prepare year end working paper required by the auditor * Perform account reconciliation on assigned general ledger accounts * Prepare and update monthly tracking sheets, report templates, and regular data downloads * Assist with analysis, verification, and posting transactions to general ledgers module or other modules * Upload and maintain SharePoint files for Corporate Accounting team. * Assist with ad hoc reporting requests * Perform each task in a timely manner to ensure monthly closing is completed on schedule * Perform other duties as assigned What you’ll need to be successful: * A minimum of three years accounting experience at an intermediate level in a mid-size company. * A post secondary degree in Accounting or an Accounting diploma combined with completion of senior level of CPA program, or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience * A good knowledge of accounting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, procedures, and practices. * Excellent team player with strong organization skills. * Ability to work to tight deadlines, under pressure, and in a fast paced environment. * Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, Great Plain, or other ERP system. * Must be willing to work with minimal supervision, be well organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines. * Take initiative to solve problems and pay attention to details. * Strong knowledge of the following computer applications: Microsoft Windows XP, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel. * Knowledge of project accounting is an asset * Advanced Excel skills
