Speech Writer


This is a Part-time position in Ottawa, ON posted July 25, 2017.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Discuss with speaker, or authorized representative on the contents of the speech
  • Conduct research on potential content
  • Draft the requested document in delivery format as required for each specific project in a bulleted list, short sentence, or full paragraph
  • Revise documents based on feedback receivedAttend meetings (in Ottawa) related to the drafting of speeches/speaking notes, as and when requested

Qualifications and Experience

  • Ten years’ consulting or work experience, within the last twenty years, writing English and French speeches/speaking notes. 
  • Three years’ experience, within the last ten years, in the development of English and French speeches/speaking notes related to finance issues
  • Valid Secret Security Clearance
  • Fluently bilingual
  • Three (3) years’ experience, in developing English and French speeches or speaking notes related to federal financial issues for use at external and internal events by Ministers, Commissioners/Deputy Ministers, Deputy Commissioners/Assistant Deputy Ministers, and possibly other senior officials for a Federal Government Organization
  • Able to efficiently produce quality content for speeches/speaking notes ranging from 300 words (3 minutes) to 2000 words (20 minutes) related to federal financial legislation
