Our public sector client requires the services of an HR consultant to review, revise and deliver work descriptions that fully describe all the aspects of the current duties and associated tasks as well as to review existing organizational structures and to make recommendations on potential changes and improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the services delivered to clients. Furthermore, our client needs a consultant to provide recommendations on the development of assessment instruments to be used for staffing processes.

Roles and Responsibilities

Perform job activities and responsibilities analysis.

Discuss with clients, as required, to gain an understanding of drivers and strategic consideration/relativity of roles and responsibilities assigned to positions in the organization.Develop and deliver generic or specific work descriptions appropriate for military members.

Conduct on-site reviews and discussions with TA’s, military personnel and contracted resources, in order to define/understand activities and responsibilities.

Discuss with management in order to clearly define the activities and responsibilities of a specific function and/or organization, and provide options.

Review and evaluate current work descriptions and recommend appropriate changes.

Identify issues/problems related to classification of existing position(s) and recommend corrective actions, if applicable.

Review existing work processes and organizational structures to determine their efficiency and effectiveness

Provide advice and guidance on organization structure, design and reporting mechanisms, and existing classifications as appropriate and recommend course(s) of action.

Provide recommendations on effectiveness of assessment instruments such as type of and manner of conducting exams, if applicable, and assisting in development or choice of such instruments to apply to a staffing process.

Qualifications and Experience

Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience, within the last 10 years, in providing advice and guidance on preparing and conducting staffing processes.

Must have minimum of five (5) years of experience, within the last 10 years, in classification of positions In a federal, provincial or municipal organization.

Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience, within the last 10 years, in developing and writing federal, provincial or municipal work descriptions.

Must have minimum of five (5) years of experience, within the last 10 years, in organizational planning and design In a federal, provincial or municipal organization.

Must have ten (10) years of relevant experience.Must have a university degree.
