Our client is seeking a Director of Engineering and Construction to join their project management team. The Director will oversee the project management function, as well as provide engineering services on various projects related to the construction or repair of sewers, watermains, roads, subdivision servicing, building excavation, land development, storm water ponds, pumping stations and site grading.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Project Management team to ensure quality delivery of all projects
  • Verify that projects are completed on schedule and on budget
  • Review bid estimates and other contract details from estimating team and assign a project team accordingly
  • Support Project Managers with project budgets and other project requirements (schedule, resources, etc)
  • Review and approve all subcontract and Purchase Orders, change orders, extras and ensure alignment with tender process/budget
  • Hold team meetings with Project Managers to review the status of their projects. Report any findings to the VP of Operations and President
  • Review and approve job costs and estimates with Project Managers
  • Create KPIs to the entire project team and ensure that these are understood by everyone
  • Conduct performance reviews for each direct report (Project Managers) and provide training and mentorship for further development in their roles
  • Collaborate with VP of Operations to review areas of improvement for project management team. Provide recommendations as needed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the project management team
  • During project completion, review the entire construction contract to ensure that all deliverables have been met and complete a full report
  • Once a project is complete and delivered to the client, hold a meeting to debrief and review lessons learned throughout the lifespan of the project
  • Actively support business development and maintain relationships with key stakeholders

  • A minimum of 20 years’ experience in construction, preferably heavy civil construction is required
  • 10+ years of experience in a senior, director level role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil) and a PMP is ideal
  • Must have prior experience in managing a professional team. The candidate can demonstrate their ability to successfully mentor, influence and lead others

Package

Salary: 150000-175000$ per hour
